Wilderness Youth Project is a former Transition House Program that currently serves Santa Barbara County youth, ages 6-17 years old.  Our three stage program focuses on the teaching of crucial life lessons in communication, teamwork, self-reliance, joyous work ethics, coping skills, trust, appreciation, problem-solving and community stewardship, all of which are the essential building blocks for these kids to develop a strong self-image and a healthy life perspective. We are unique in that we use wilderness, "edge" experiences, rites of passage and cultural mentoring techniques to reach deep inside each of the youth to inspire them to not only picture a positive healthy future but to also have the tools to attain it.
