Daily Dose: Write A Story

Here’s today’s dose of nature connection ideas!

Flash connection: Walk Backwards
Start just outside your home and walk backwards for 5-10 minutes. Do your best to keep your head straight and resist the temptation to look over your shoulder. You will have to move slow and steady. If you run into something, simply take a few steps to the side and continue walking backwards. Watch the world in reverse and see what you notice.

Adventure: Storyline
Get creative on your next walk through nature. Sink into your imagination and create a story so the trees, plants, logs and everything spring alive. As an example of an imaginative storyline: I entered the castle (trail entrance), and two grandmothers greeted me (two tall oaks growing together), I followed the trail until I saw the royal tiger (a large log on the trail), and went east towards the fire (Toyon with red berries). Not only is this fun but it’s useful for children to keep from getting lost outdoors.
