Vivian was born and raised in Santa Barbara & Goleta, and is the daughter of Mexican and Salvadoran immigrants. She has grown up with a strong connection to the ocean, always enjoying going out for a swim or exploring tide pools. From a young age, Vivian has been deeply drawn to environmentalism, social justice, and education. She began her college journey at Santa Barbara City College and is now continuing her Environmental Studies degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara, as a first-generation college student. She is excited to mentor kids this summer by fostering curiosity and connections with nature. In her free time, you will often find Vivian reading, walking with friends, at the beach, making art, or practicing her Spanish.
Vivian nació y creció en Santa Bárbara y Goleta, y es hija de inmigrantes mexicanos y salvadoreños. Ha mantenido desde siempre una fuerte conexión con el océano, disfrutando de nadar o explorar pozas de marea. Desde joven, Vivian ha sentido una profunda atracción por el ambientalismo, la justicia social y la educación. Comenzó su trayectoria universitaria en Santa Barbara City College y actualmente continúa sus estudios en Ciencias Ambientales en la Universidad de California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), siendo la primera generación de su familia en asistir a la universidad. Está entusiasmada de poder ser mentora de niños este verano, fomentando la curiosidad y el vínculo con la naturaleza. En su tiempo libre, a menudo se le puede encontrar leyendo, caminando con amistades, en la playa, creando arte o practicando su español.
