160 people came out to hear David Sobel share the values of Nature Focused Learning!
- David Sobel referred to the Santa Barbara community he had witnessed over the week as a possible “epicenter for nature education”—a true testament to the breadth and depth of influence he not only bestowed upon Santa Barbara, but also received, during his visit.
- Routine regular exposure to nature matters more than occasional “field trips”
- With Common Core being implemented, educators hope to see the outdoors as part of the fabric of education, not the fringe
- We were introduced to some examples where schools are going outside for half of the school day one day each week, called Forest Fridays. These classes are demonstrating significant increases in students’ test scores and engagement.
